Jon has been consulting through his Company, Caliam Consulting Limited (Caliam HR) since 2004. Prior to this, he held senior HR roles in various organisations mainly across the manufacturing and service sectors. Since establishing Caliam, Jon has worked with a wide variety of businesses from the Service, Charity, Professional Services, Manufacturing and Construction Sectors.
Critically, at this time of Covid 19, Jon’s expertise is being called upon to help facilitate changes in working practices (e.g. implementing ‘furlough’ arrangements, designing redundancy processes and the reorganisation of workloads to meet crisis scenarios).
Examples of Changing Working Practices include: -
Facilitating the change from 5 day to 6 day shift working in a manufacturing environment.
Obtaining agreement of employees to accept a 15% wage reduction in order to avoid potential redundancies.
Restructuring working patterns across 3 process plants to extend working hours / increase capacity to meet increasing orders / efficiency
Other areas of his expertise include conducting employment related investigations such as Grievance and Disciplinary and writing Contracts of Employment and Staff Handbooks.
Examples of Workplace Investigations include: -
An investigation into a multi allegation grievance (race, sex and age discrimination).
A CCTV based investigation into alleged warehouse theft by employees.
An investigation into the alleged leak of confidential data by a UK based Managing Director.
